It is a 20-minute taxi ride from Mizunami Station on the Chuo Line (approximately 4,000 yen per car, one way). If driving, take Route 363 to Mizunami Station on the Chuo Line or Akechi Station on the Akechi Railway, then take the Tono Railway Bus Akechi Line to the Suasahimachi bus stop, and it is a 5-minute walk from there. There is a free shuttle from Mizunami Station (only for groups of 6 or more). |

ChefKazutaka Yamada - The third generation chef who built a famous restaurant based on Local Cuisine
Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1970. He grew up watching his father, who was a chef, but then went on to university with the aim of becoming a teacher. He eventually decided to follow the family business of being a chef, and started working at restaurants in the prefecture at the age of 23. When he was 40, his predecessor passed away, and he took that opportunity to become the third-generation owner of "Yanagiya." He currently runs the restaurant with his third son.

selection course meal uses local ingredients that can only be enjoyed in a particular season, such as wild mountain vegetables in spring, wild sweetfish and eels in summer, mushrooms such as matsutake mushrooms in autumn, and wild game in winter. The owner and his wife will be on hand to grill the carefully selected wild game, so that you can experience its greatness. The meat, which is grilled to the perfect temperature, has no unpleasant odor and has a strong flavor and a chewy texture.

Yanagiya is located just under 30 minutes by car from downtown Mizunami, Gifu Prefecture, deep in the mountains where you can feel the four seasons of the countryside. The restaurant, an old folk house from the late Edo period, was relocated and is filled with sunken kotatsu seating, and guests are greeted by a crackling hearth. The atmosphere is further enhanced by the antiques collected by the previous owner. Gourmets from Japan and abroad continue to frequent this place to enjoy fine cuisine in a comfortable space away from everyday life.
